data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton">Subscribe now

Let’s talk about time.

Because a lot of advice about online business seems to be written by people who have no job, no children, no laundry, no dog, no inbox, no school runs, no family commitments, no random life admin, and apparently no need to ever go to Tesco because the fridge has started making judgemental noises.

Normal people do not have 40 spare hours a week.

Normal people have lives.

They have work, families, bills, tired evenings, weekends that disappear in a blur, and days where the most productive thing they manage is finding the phone charger before everything collapses.

So when someone says, “Just build an AI-powered digital empire in your spare time,” it sounds brilliant until you realise your spare time is currently 37 minutes on a Thursday, and half of that is spent looking for your glasses.

That is why this issue is about a realistic plan.

Not a fantasy plan.

Not a “wake up at 4am, drink green powder, journal for two hours and build a software company before lunch” plan.

A real plan for normal people.

The aim is simple:

Build one useful asset per month with AI’s help.

That is enough.

Not enough to build Amazon by next Tuesday. But enough to build momentum.

And momentum matters.

The Big Idea: One Useful Asset Per Month

A useful asset is something you create once that can continue helping your audience, your business or your income after it is made.

It could be a newsletter issue, lead magnet, checklist, prompt pack, guide, template, review page, comparison article, mini workbook, email sequence, webinar, video script or small paid product.

The key word is useful.

Not perfect.

Not enormous.

Not award-winning.

Useful.

A useful asset helps someone solve a problem, save time, make a decision, take action or understand something more clearly.

For example:

“The Beginner’s AI Prompt Pack for Better Social Posts”

That is a useful asset.

“10 Things to Check Before Buying Another Online Course”

That is a useful asset.

“The AI Starter Checklist for Small Business Owners”

That is a useful asset.

“Substack Launch Plan for Beginners”

That is a useful asset.

These things may not sound glamorous. But they can grow your list, support affiliate income, become paid downloads, lead to services, build authority or form part of a bigger product later.

This is how a business starts to compound.

One useful asset this month.

Another useful asset next month.

Another the month after.

Twelve months later, you have a library of value instead of a pile of half-started ideas and a Google Drive folder that looks like a crime scene.

The Monthly Asset Method

The monthly asset method is simple:

One audience.
One problem.
One useful asset.
One month.

That is the whole system.

For example:

Audience: small business owners.
Problem: they struggle to write social media posts.
Asset: AI social post prompt pack.

Audience: beginner affiliate marketers.
Problem: they do not know how to review products properly.
Asset: honest review template.

Audience: people starting newsletters.
Problem: they do not know what to write.
Asset: 30 newsletter ideas guide.

Audience: busy professionals.
Problem: they want to use AI but do not know where to start.
Asset: AI starter checklist.

This approach works because it removes overwhelm. You are not trying to build a course, podcast, YouTube channel, paid community, funnel, shop and personal brand all in the same week.

You are building one useful thing.

Then next month, you build another.

Simple is not weak.

Simple is what gets finished.

Week 1: Choose and Clarify

The first week is about clarity.

Do not rush this part. A lot of people get excited, choose an idea too quickly, then spend the next three weeks building something vague. At the end, they are not even sure who it is for.

In Week 1, answer four questions:

Who am I helping?

What problem are they facing?

What useful asset could help them?

What is the simplest version I can create?

Use AI to help you think this through.

Prompt:

“I want to create one useful AI-supported asset this month. My audience is [audience]. Their problem is [problem]. Suggest 10 simple assets I could create, then rank them by usefulness, ease of creation and income potential.”

The ranking is useful because not every idea is equal. Some ideas are useful but too complicated. Some are easy but not valuable. Some have income potential but need a bigger audience. You are looking for the sweet spot: useful, simple and realistic.

By the end of Week 1, you should be able to say:

“I am creating [asset] for [audience] to help them solve [problem].”

That sentence matters.

Clear gets built.

Vague gets postponed.

Week 2: Draft the Asset

Week 2 is about creating the rough version.

This is where AI earns its keep.

If you are creating a checklist, ask AI for the steps. If you are creating a guide, ask for the outline. If you are creating a prompt pack, ask for categories and examples. If you are writing a review article, ask for a review structure. If you are creating a workbook, ask for sections and exercises.

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is a complete rough draft.

This matters because many people edit while they create, which means they never finish. They write one paragraph, hate it, rewrite it, check their phone, make a coffee, question their life choices, then somehow two hours disappear.

AI helps you get the first version down.

For example, if your asset is a prompt pack, you might ask:

“Create 30 beginner-friendly AI prompts for small business owners who want to write better social media posts. Organise them into categories and include a short explanation of when to use each one.”

Some of the prompts will be good. Some will be average. Some will need rewriting.

That is fine.

You now have raw material.

Raw material can be improved.

Nothing cannot.

Week 3: Improve, Humanise and Test

Week 3 is where quality appears.

This is the week that separates lazy AI output from genuinely useful content.

AI can create a draft, but if you publish the draft exactly as it comes out, it may feel generic. It might be technically correct, but it will lack personality, examples, context and trust.

Your job in Week 3 is to humanise it.

Add examples.

Add your opinion.

Add warnings.

Add humour.

Add “here’s what I’d actually do”.

Remove jargon.

Remove filler.

Test anything practical.

If it is a prompt pack, try the prompts. If it is a checklist, follow it yourself. If it is a guide, check whether a beginner could use it without needing a translator and a lie down.

You can still use AI to help improve it.

Prompt:

“Rewrite this so it sounds more friendly, practical and human. Remove jargon, add clearer examples, and keep it suitable for beginners.”

But do not outsource your judgement.

AI can polish.

You decide.

This is where the asset becomes yours.

Week 4: Package, Publish and Promote

Week 4 is about getting the asset into the world.

This is where many people freeze. They keep tweaking, editing, renaming, redesigning and telling themselves it is not quite ready.

But here is the truth: it probably is ready enough.

Ready enough matters.

You can always improve version two.

In Week 4, package the asset clearly. If it is a PDF, make it easy to read. If it is a checklist, make it simple to follow. If it is a prompt pack, organise it by category. If it is a review, include your honest verdict. If it is a newsletter, use clear headings and a strong call to action.

Then publish it.

Share it on Substack. Send it to your list. Post about it on Facebook. Talk about it on LinkedIn. Mention it on X. Create a simple graphic. Ask people whether it was useful.

An asset hidden in a folder is not really an asset.

It is just a document having a quiet life.

To become valuable, it needs to be used, read, downloaded, shared, bought, tested or recommended.

The Income Angle

A monthly asset can create income in several ways.

It can support affiliate income if it naturally recommends tools, courses or platforms. For example, if you create an AI starter checklist, you can mention the tools you use and include affiliate links where appropriate.

It can become a paid download. A small, focused product at £9, £19 or £29 can be a brilliant first offer because it is easy to understand and easy to buy.

It can lead to services. If someone reads your guide and thinks, “This is useful, but I’d rather someone help me do it,” that creates an opportunity for setup calls, content packs, newsletter planning, tool audits or strategy sessions.

It can support a paid newsletter. Your free assets build trust. Your paid tier can offer deeper templates, prompt packs, monthly playbooks, swipe files and implementation guides.

It can build authority. Every useful thing you publish proves you can help. Over time, that opens doors to partnerships, sponsorships, interviews, collaborations and bigger offers.

Not every asset will make money instantly.

That is not the point.

The point is that useful assets compound.

One brings subscribers. One brings affiliate clicks. One becomes a paid product. One leads to a client. One becomes part of a course. One gets shared and builds your reputation.

That is how a newsletter becomes a business.

This Week’s Action

Choose your first useful asset.

Use this prompt:

“I have limited time each week and want to build one simple AI-supported income asset in 30 days. Ask me questions to choose the best asset, then create a weekly plan for me.”

Answer honestly.

Then choose the simplest option.

Not the flashiest. Not the biggest. Not the one that makes you feel like a tech billionaire in waiting.

The simplest useful option.

Because simple gets finished.

And finished can earn, teach, attract, sell, grow or improve.

Half-built genius does none of those things.

Final Thought

You do not need endless time to start using AI for income.

You need a simple rhythm.

One audience.
One problem.
One useful asset.
One month.

AI can help you plan it, draft it, improve it, package it and promote it. But you still bring the part that matters most: judgement, experience, honesty, humour and care for the reader.

That is what people connect with.

Start small.

Build one useful thing this month.

Then build another.

That is how momentum begins.

And momentum, given enough time, can change everything.

That wraps the first 30 days of Ignite Income.

Over the next few issues, we’ll get more practical with specific AI tools, beginner-friendly workflows, honest reviews, digital product ideas, affiliate opportunities and simple ways to turn your ideas into useful income assets.

Subscribe, grab a brew, and let’s keep building.

Now format and check everything and create me a ready to publish

Thanks for reading! before they can start making money online.

Not just a good idea. Not just a useful idea. A massive, world-changing, coffee-dropping idea that makes people gasp, investors appear from behind bushes, and strangers immediately ask where they can send money.

They don’t.

Most income starts with something much simpler.

A useful idea.

Not a perfect idea. Not a revolutionary idea. Not something that will get you invited onto a podcast called “The Future of Human Potential” while everyone nods thoughtfully into tiny bottles of water.

Just useful.

“How to use AI to write better emails.”

“How to create social posts faster.”

“How to start a newsletter.”

“How to turn one blog post into five pieces of content.”

“How to review products properly.”

“How to make a simple digital product.”

“How to organise your business tools.”

“How to create a lead magnet.”

None of those ideas are shocking. Nobody is dropping their coffee in amazement.

But they solve real problems.

And real problems are where value lives.

That is one of the biggest lessons I have learned from making over £100k with AI-supported systems and content. The money is rarely in having an idea nobody has ever heard before. The money is usually in explaining a useful idea clearly, packaging it properly and putting it in front of the right people.

AI helps you do that faster.

But first, you need to stop chasing topics and start looking for problems.

The Big Idea: Problems Beat Topics

A topic is broad.

A problem is specific.

A topic is “AI tools”. A problem is “I don’t know which AI tool to use first and I’m scared of wasting money.”

A topic is “newsletters”. A problem is “I want to start a newsletter but I don’t know what to write each week.”

A topic is “affiliate marketing”. A problem is “I promote products but I’m not building my own audience or email list.”

A topic is “digital products”. A problem is “I want to create something to sell, but I don’t know what people would actually buy.”

Topics are interesting.

Problems are valuable.

People may read about topics, but they pay to solve problems.

Nobody wakes up thinking, “I’d love a broad overview of AI-enabled content monetisation today.”

But they absolutely think:

“I need to write an email and I’m stuck.”

“I need to save time.”

“I need a side income idea.”

“I need to stop wasting money on tools.”

“I need to create something I can sell.”

“I need to know what to do first.”

That is where your content should begin.

Start with the problem. Then build the useful thing.

A Normal Person Example

Let’s take a simple idea:

Helping beginners use AI to create better social media posts.

That is not revolutionary. It is not flashy. It will not make Silicon Valley tremble.

But it is useful.

Small business owners struggle with social posts. Coaches struggle with what to say. Affiliate marketers struggle to make promotions sound natural. Newsletter writers struggle to repurpose content. Local businesses know they should post more, but they do not have time.

The problem is clear.

They do not want to spend all day writing posts.

They do not want to sound robotic.

They do not know what prompts to use.

They want simple help.

That one idea can become several different income routes.

It could become free content. It could become a paid prompt pack. It could become an affiliate review. It could become a client service. It could become a newsletter series. It could become a workshop. It could become a downloadable checklist.

Same idea.

Multiple outputs.

That is leverage.

And AI makes leverage much easier.

The Content Layer

The first layer is content.

Content is how you test the idea, build trust and attract people who care about the problem.

Using our example, you could create newsletter issues like:

Why AI Social Posts Sound Robotic — And How to Fix Them

The Simple Prompt Formula for Better Facebook Posts

How to Turn One Blog Post Into 7 Social Updates

Why Your AI Content Still Needs Your Personality

5 Beginner Mistakes When Using AI for LinkedIn

Each of these could become a newsletter, blog post, LinkedIn article, Facebook post, X thread, podcast topic or short video.

The purpose of this content is not just to get attention.

Attention is useful, but trust is better.

Every piece should make the reader think:

“That helped me.”

That is the magic phrase.

When people repeatedly feel helped by your free content, they become more likely to subscribe, click, buy, share and trust your recommendations.

That is how a newsletter starts becoming a business.

The Product Layer

Once you know the content is useful, you can turn the idea into a small product.

Do not rush into creating a giant course. That is one of the classic mistakes. People decide their first product needs to be a full training programme with 97 videos, a workbook, a community, a certificate and possibly a theme tune.

Start smaller.

Small products are easier to create, easier to finish, easier to sell and easier for customers to use.

For our example, you could create:

The AI Social Post Starter Kit

Inside, you might include:

A simple guide on using AI without sounding robotic.
20 prompts for Facebook, LinkedIn and X.
A weekly content planner.
A checklist for editing AI-written posts.
Before-and-after examples.
A simple posting routine for busy people.

That could be a free lead magnet. Or it could be a paid product at £9, £19 or £29.

The price is not the most important thing at the beginning. The important thing is learning how to create something useful, put it in front of people and see whether they respond.

That learning is valuable.

And once you have one small product, you can improve it, expand it, bundle it or create the next one.

The Affiliate Layer

Now ask:

Are there tools, courses or resources that help solve this problem?

If the answer is yes, you may have an affiliate opportunity.

For social media content, you could review AI writing tools, scheduling tools, design tools, newsletter platforms, automation tools or content planning systems.

But the way you do this matters.

Bad affiliate marketing feels desperate. It sprays links everywhere, recommends everything, and makes every product sound like it was personally handed down by the gods of passive income.

Good affiliate marketing feels helpful.

You explain what the tool does. You show who it is for. You mention the weaknesses. You share how you would use it. You say whether beginners need it or whether they should wait.

That kind of honesty is powerful.

Because readers do not want to be sold to constantly.

They want help making better decisions.

If you can become the person who helps them avoid wasting money, they will trust you when you say something is worth a look.

The Service Layer

There is another income route that many people overlook: services.

A service can often make money faster than a newsletter or product because you do not need a huge audience. You just need a clear problem and someone willing to pay for help.

Using our AI social post example, you could offer:

Monthly content packs for small businesses.
AI content setup sessions.
Prompt-writing support.
Newsletter-to-social repurposing.
Social media calendar creation.
AI content editing to make posts sound more human.

AI helps you deliver faster, but the value is not the AI tool.

The value is your judgement.

A client is not paying you because you can type a prompt. They can type a prompt. They are paying because you understand what to ask, what to keep, what to improve, what sounds human, what sounds dreadful, and what will actually help their audience.

That judgement is valuable.

For many people, a service is the fastest first income route. Later, the lessons from that service can become templates, products, guides, newsletter content and paid resources.

The Newsletter Layer

The newsletter is where one useful idea becomes an ongoing relationship.

That matters because one-off products are good, but a loyal audience is better.

A newsletter lets you teach, test, review, recommend, tell stories, share lessons and stay close to the people you want to serve.

Using our example, you could create an eight-week newsletter series:

Week 1: Why AI social posts sound robotic.
Week 2: How to write better prompts.
Week 3: How to add your real voice.
Week 4: How to turn one idea into seven posts.
Week 5: Best tools for social content.
Week 6: Common beginner mistakes.
Week 7: Before-and-after examples.
Week 8: Launch of your prompt pack.

That is two months of content from one problem.

This is the point.

You do not always need more ideas.

Sometimes you need to go deeper on one useful problem.

Depth builds trust.

Trust builds audience.

Audience creates options.

This Week’s Action

Choose one simple problem you could help solve.

Not a giant niche. Not a full business empire. Just one problem.

Then use this prompt:

I want to turn this problem into a newsletter, a small digital product, an affiliate content idea and a simple service. Give me practical ideas for each one, written for beginners.

Once AI gives you the options, do not try to build all of them at once.

That is how people end up surrounded by half-built projects, emotional support biscuits and a mysterious sense of doom.

Pick one route.

If you want to build trust, start with content.
If you want to grow your list, create a lead magnet.
If you want a quick first offer, create a small product.
If you need cash faster, consider a service.
If you already know tools you trust, write an honest review.

Choose the simplest useful version.

Then start.

Final Thought

You do not need 50 ideas.

You need one useful problem, one clear audience and one practical way to help.

AI can help you shape, test, draft, package and promote that idea. But the real value still comes from your experience, judgement and ability to explain things clearly.

One idea can become content, products, services, affiliate income, newsletter issues, videos, workshops and paid resources.

Not because it is complicated.

Because it is useful.

And useful ideas, handled properly, can become income.

Next week, I’ll show you a realistic AI income plan for busy people — the kind you can work on around a job, family, business and real life.

Subscribe to Ignite Income and come back for that one.

Thanks for reading! data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton">Subscribe now

One of the fastest ways to get overwhelmed with AI is to start collecting tools like they are Pokémon.

You find one for writing, one for images, one for research, one for video, one for voice, one for mind maps, one for turning documents into presentations, one for turning presentations into videos, and one that claims it can build an entire business while you sleep but mostly seems to build an average landing page and then ask for your card details.

Before long, you have subscriptions everywhere, dashboards you never open, passwords you cannot remember, and a vague sense that you are “getting into AI” even though nothing useful has actually been created.

That is not a strategy.

That is digital clutter wearing a clever hat.

If I were starting again from scratch, knowing what I know now after making over £100k using AI-supported systems, I would not begin by chasing every shiny new app. I would not spend weeks comparing tools, watching demo videos, joining Facebook groups and convincing myself that I need the perfect setup before I can start.

I would keep it simple.

Very simple.

I would choose three types of tools:

One tool to help me think and write.
One tool to help me research and understand.
One tool to help me design and package.

That is enough to begin.

Not enough to do absolutely everything. Not enough to replace effort. Not enough to magically create a business overnight.

But enough to create useful output.

And useful output is what matters.

Tool 1: Your Thinking and Writing Assistant

Your first tool is your main AI assistant. For most people, this will be something like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or another general AI writing tool. The exact tool matters less than how you use it.

This is the tool that helps you get ideas out of your head and onto the page. It helps you brainstorm, outline, draft, rewrite, simplify, organise and improve. It is the tool you use when you are stuck, unclear, tired, overwhelmed or staring at the screen wondering if your brain has gone out for a walk without telling you.

Used properly, your AI assistant becomes a thinking partner.

Let’s say you want to create a newsletter. You can ask it to help define your audience, come up with issue ideas, create a publishing schedule, draft your opening paragraphs, suggest headlines, simplify confusing sections, create social posts and turn the article into a checklist.

That is incredibly useful.

But here is the important bit: AI is not the final writer.

It is the first-draft assistant.

If you publish everything exactly as it comes out, people will notice. It may sound polished, but it often lacks warmth, edge, judgement and real-world flavour. Sometimes AI writes like a corporate brochure had a baby with a motivational poster.

Your job is to humanise it.

You add your stories. You add your opinions. You add the little jokes. You add the examples. You remove the waffle. You decide what is actually useful.

AI gives you speed.

You give it soul.

How to Use This Tool Properly

The best way to use your writing assistant is not to ask it for huge, vague things.

Do not start with:

Create me a business.

You will probably get a grand-sounding plan involving branding, funnels, global scalability and other phrases that make you feel productive while doing absolutely nothing.

Start smaller.

Use it to sort ideas:

Here are my messy ideas. Sort them into content ideas, product ideas, service ideas, and things I should ignore for now.

Use it to create first drafts:

Turn these notes into a friendly newsletter article for beginners.

Use it to repurpose content:

Turn this newsletter into 3 Facebook posts, 3 LinkedIn posts and 5 short X posts.

Use it to improve clarity:

Rewrite this so it is easier to understand, more practical and less corporate.

That is where AI becomes useful.

Not in replacing your thinking, but in speeding up the parts that usually slow you down.

Tool 2: Your Research Assistant

Your second tool is an AI research assistant. This could be Perplexity, Gemini with search, ChatGPT with browsing, or any tool that helps you find and understand information quickly.

This is important because if you are going to write about AI tools, online business ideas, digital products, course reviews or income opportunities, you need to know what is actually happening. You cannot build trust by guessing.

A research assistant helps you compare tools, understand trends, find sources, summarise long pages, spot common questions and discover what people are struggling with.

But there is a warning.

Do not blindly trust AI research.

AI can be confident and wrong. It can sound incredibly convincing while quietly inventing something. It is a bit like someone in the pub explaining tax law after three pints: confident, detailed and potentially disastrous.

So use research tools wisely.

Let them help you find the information, but check anything important. Especially prices, features, claims, statistics, legal information, financial advice, health-related information or anything that might have changed recently.

Used properly, research tools help you create content with substance.

And substance is what separates a trusted newsletter from yet another waffle factory.

What I’d Research First

If I were building an AI income newsletter from scratch, I would use a research assistant to answer market questions.

What are beginners confused about?

Which AI tools are small businesses actually using?

What mistakes do people make when using AI?

Which tools have affiliate programmes?

What are people searching for?

What questions keep appearing in communities?

What products are selling?

What services are freelancers offering with AI support?

What problems are people willing to pay to solve?

This kind of research helps you avoid creating content nobody asked for.

That is a common mistake. People create what they fancy making, not what others need help with. Sometimes that works, but usually it leads to disappointment, tumbleweed and a slightly wounded feeling when nobody downloads your 42-page guide on a topic nobody wanted.

Research helps you stay useful.

And useful is where the money is.

Tool 3: Your Design and Packaging Tool

Your third tool is a design and packaging tool. For most normal people, Canva is the obvious place to start.

This is the tool that helps your ideas look presentable.

That matters more than people think.

You might have a brilliant checklist, but if it looks like it was designed during a power cut in 1998, people may not take it seriously. Good design does not need to be fancy. It does not need to look like a luxury skincare brand unless you are selling luxury skincare. It just needs to be clean, clear and easy to use.

A design tool helps you turn rough ideas into assets.

A list becomes a checklist.

An article becomes a PDF.

A set of prompts becomes a prompt pack.

A framework becomes a worksheet.

A newsletter becomes a downloadable guide.

This is where AI-supported income starts to feel more real, because your ideas become something people can save, share, download, buy or use.

That is the point.

Ideas are good.

Packaged ideas are better.

Useful packaged ideas are where income can begin.

The Income Angle

With these three tools, you can create a lot.

Let’s say you want to create a beginner guide called:

The AI Starter Checklist for Small Business Owners

Your writing assistant helps create the outline and draft. Your research assistant helps check which tools and use cases are current. Your design tool helps package it into a simple PDF.

That PDF could become a free lead magnet to grow your list. It could include affiliate links to tools you genuinely recommend. Later, you could create a paid version with templates, prompts and examples.

Or you could use the same stack to create client content, paid prompt packs, tool reviews, comparison articles, mini-guides or newsletter issues.

The tools do not create the income by themselves.

They help you create useful things that can lead to income.

That is the distinction.

And it matters.

The Biggest Tool Mistake

The biggest mistake is buying tools before you know the job.

That is backwards.

It is like buying a cement mixer because you might fancy building a patio one day, then wondering why your garden still looks the same.

Start with the job.

Ask:

What do I need to create?

Who am I helping?

What problem am I solving?

What would save me time?

What would make this easier to publish, sell or share?

Then choose the tool.

Do not let the tool choose the direction of your business.

This Week’s Action

Choose your simple AI starter stack.

Pick:

One writing assistant.
One research assistant.
One design tool.

Do not spend three days comparing every option. Pick a sensible starting point.

Then use this prompt:

Help me create a simple 4-week content plan around one AI-supported income idea I could realistically start with my current skills, interests and available time.

Then ask:

What is the smallest useful thing I could create from this plan in the next 7 days?

That second question is the important one.

Small useful things get finished.

Finished things can be shared, tested, improved and monetised.

Unfinished things just sit in your Google Drive quietly judging you.

Final Thought

Most people do not need more AI tools.

They need more useful output.

A tool you do not use is not an asset. It is just another monthly payment hiding in your bank statement.

But a simple tool used properly can help you create something valuable.

Start with the simple stack.

Use it to build one useful thing.

Then build the next.

And for goodness’ sake, cancel the AI cat podcast tool unless the cat is paying rent.

Next week, I’ll show you how one simple idea can become content, products, services and possible income streams using AI.

Subscribe to Ignite Income so you don’t miss it.

Thanks for reading! data-component-name="ButtonCreateButton">Subscribe now

There is something quietly powerful about finally pressing publish on something you have been carrying around in your head for a long time.

That is exactly how this first week has felt for us at Volcano Publishing. After months of ideas, conversations, notes, half-written angles, abandoned titles, and those familiar moments of wondering whether it was “ready enough”, we finally launched the first edition of our new newsletter, Ignite Income.

And honestly, it felt good.

Not because we think we have suddenly cracked the internet. Not because we believe one newsletter issue changes everything overnight. But because we finally moved from thinking about it, planning it, perfecting it, and talking about it… to actually putting it out into the world.

That, in itself, is a win.

Our first edition, “The £100K AI Wake-Up Call: Why ‘Normal’ Is No Longer Enough”, was exactly the kind of opening piece we wanted to launch with. It was direct, timely, useful, and, most importantly, honest. It spoke to something we have been seeing more and more — that the world of online business is changing fast, AI is no longer a nice little extra, and the people who learn to use the right tools properly are going to have a very different experience from those who keep waiting for things to go back to normal.

You can read the first edition here:
https://volcanopublishing.substack.com/p/the-100k-ai-wake-up-call-why-normal

But this week has not just been about launching a newsletter. It has been about finally giving shape to something that has been building inside Volcano Publishing for a while.

Why Ignite Income Took Longer Than Expected to Launch

The honest answer is simple.

We were probably waiting for perfection.

And we know we are not alone in that.

Most people who want to start something online have felt it. You get the idea. You feel the excitement. You can see the potential. Then, almost immediately, the questions start creeping in.

Is the name right?
Is the angle strong enough?
Is the market too crowded?
Will people care?
Is the first piece good enough?
Should we wait until we have three months of content planned?
Should we build the funnel first?
Should we change the branding?
Should we make it more niche?
Should we make it broader?
Should we wait until we find the magic formula?

Before long, what started as a simple idea becomes something much heavier than it needs to be.

That is where we were with Ignite Income for a while. We knew we wanted to create a newsletter that sat properly within the Volcano Publishing world. We already had our wider brand, our course reviews, our blog content, our Roadtrippin’ stories, our Digital Eruption podcast, our Volcano Learn work, and our ongoing mission to help people understand the online business space in a more practical, honest way.

But Ignite Income needed to feel different.

It needed to have its own purpose.

We did not want it to be just another newsletter thrown into the mix because “newsletters are a good idea”. We did not want to add more noise to people’s inboxes. And we definitely did not want it to become one of those content machines that simply shouts about trends, tools, AI hacks, affiliate offers, and “easy wins” without giving people something they can actually use.

There are already a lot of newsletters out there. Some are excellent. Some are average. Some are little more than recycled internet noise with a clever subject line.

So we asked ourselves a pretty important question:

Why should Ignite Income exist?

And the answer became clearer the more we worked on it.

Ignite Income exists because people do not need more hype. They need more clarity.

They need someone willing to test things, question things, explain things, and give an honest view. They need someone to look at the online business world through practical eyes and say, “This looks useful,” or, just as importantly, “This probably is not worth your time.”

That is where we want Ignite Income to sit.

Not as the loudest voice in the room. Not as another newsletter promising overnight riches. Not as a place where every tool, course, or system is treated as the next big miracle.

But as a trusted filter.

A place where people can come for ideas, direction, useful reviews, honest breakdowns, and a bit of encouragement to start building something of their own.

The First Edition Felt Like the Right Starting Point

Launching with “The £100K AI Wake-Up Call” felt right because it captured a conversation that a lot of people are either already having or quietly avoiding.

AI is no longer something sitting on the edge of the online business world. It is already inside it. It is changing how content is created, how businesses operate, how research is done, how marketing is built, how customer journeys are improved, how newsletters are planned, and how one-person businesses can do things that once needed a whole team.

But there is also a lot of confusion around it.

Some people see AI as a shortcut. Some see it as a threat. Some see it as a toy. Some are already using it well. Others are still trying to work out where to begin.

Our view is that AI is not here to replace effort, judgement, creativity, personality, or trust. But it is absolutely here to change the way those things are delivered.

That is why the first edition mattered to us.

We wanted to open Ignite Income with something that did not simply say, “Here is another AI tool.” We wanted to talk about the bigger shift. The fact that “normal” is not really normal anymore. The fact that standing still is becoming more risky than trying something new. The fact that people who want to build online income, digital products, affiliate businesses, newsletters, courses, content platforms, or personal brands need to start looking seriously at how these tools can help them.

Not in a gimmicky way.

In a practical way.

Used properly, AI can help people move faster. It can help them research better. It can help them get unstuck. It can help them write, plan, test, organise, repurpose, and refine. It can give someone who is starting from scratch a level of support they would never have had access to a few years ago.

But only if they understand how to use it with direction.

That is the kind of conversation Ignite Income is here to have.

How We Feel After Week One

After launching the first edition, the overriding feeling is pride.

But it is not loud pride. It is not the kind of pride that says, “Look what we have done.”

It is more grounded than that.

It is the feeling of finally starting something that we know has a proper place in the Volcano Publishing ecosystem. It is the feeling of knowing we have stopped waiting for everything to be perfect and have taken the first real step. It is the satisfaction of seeing an idea become something people can actually read, subscribe to, respond to, and hopefully benefit from.

There is also a sense of relief, if we are honest.

Because once something is published, it becomes real. It is no longer an idea trapped in a notebook or a draft folder. It is out there. People can read it. They can like it, ignore it, comment on it, question it, share it, or challenge it.

And that is a good thing.

That is how things grow.

We have always believed that Volcano Publishing should be built around real usefulness, not just clever marketing. Yes, we care about headlines, hooks, offers, traffic, clicks, conversions, and all the things that matter in online business. But underneath all of that, there has to be trust.

If there is no trust, there is no long-term business.

That is why this first edition felt important. It gave us a chance to set the tone early. We wanted readers to feel that Ignite Income would be useful, honest, grounded, and human. Not corporate. Not robotic. Not dressed up to sound more impressive than it is. Just real insight from people who are testing, learning, building, and sharing as they go.

And that is exactly how we want it to continue.

We Are Building This With Readers, Not Just For Readers

One of the biggest things we want to make clear from the start is that Ignite Income is not intended to be a one-way broadcast.

We do not want to simply send out a newsletter, tick the box, and move on.

We want this to become a proper conversation.

That means we will be listening carefully to the people who read it. We want to know what they are trying to build. We want to know what they are struggling with. We want to know what tools they are curious about, which courses they are considering, what parts of online business feel confusing, and where they feel stuck.

Because there is a huge difference between writing content because you need to publish something and creating content because it genuinely helps the person reading it.

The first edition is just the starting point. Over time, Ignite Income will be shaped by the questions, comments, and needs of the people who join us.

That might mean more product breakdowns. It might mean more AI tool walkthroughs. It might mean more course reviews. It might mean more behind-the-scenes reflections. It might mean practical templates, checklists, content ideas, affiliate marketing lessons, newsletter growth tips, or examples of what we are testing inside our own business.

The point is, we are not trying to pretend that week one is the finished version.

It is the beginning.

We will improve it. We will adjust. We will learn what lands. We will listen to what people ask for. And we will keep making it more useful as we go.

That is how a newsletter becomes more than content.

That is how it becomes a community.

No Sitting Back — The Next Edition Is Already Taking Shape

In true Volcano Publishing fashion, we have not spent the week sitting back and admiring the fact that edition one has gone live.

That might sound nice for about five minutes. But it is not really us.

Once the first edition was out, our attention naturally moved to what comes next.

The next edition of Ignite Income is already being shaped, and it drops on Tuesday 19th May.

That gives us the perfect rhythm. Launch, listen, learn, prepare, and keep going. Because newsletters are not built by one good issue. They are built by consistency. They are built by showing up. They are built by creating enough value that people begin to look forward to the next one.

That is the standard we want to build towards.

This week has been full of ideas. Some are rough. Some are already taking shape. Some might become full newsletter editions, some might become Substack Notes, some might become deeper reviews, and some might sit in the background until the right time.

But the thinking is underway.

And that matters.

Because Ignite Income is not going to survive by being random. It needs a clear purpose. It needs a useful rhythm. It needs to help people understand the fast-moving world of online income without making them feel like they are constantly behind.

That is what we are aiming for.

Our Real Calling: Testing, Stripping Down, and Sharing What Is Worth Your Time

One of the things this week has reminded us is that a big part of Volcano Publishing’s role is not just to create content.

It is to test things.

We are curious by nature. If there is a course, tool, system, platform, software, or business-building idea that looks like it might help people, we want to understand it properly. We do not want to skim a sales page and repeat the promises. We want to look under the bonnet.

What is it actually teaching?
Who is it really for?
Is it beginner-friendly?
Is it realistic?
Does it help someone build a proper asset?
Is there substance behind the marketing?
Could we see ourselves using it, recommending it, or learning from it?
Where are the strengths?
Where are the limitations?
What should people know before jumping in?

That is the sort of work we enjoy.

And more importantly, it is the sort of work that can genuinely help readers.

Because people are busy. They do not have unlimited time or money to keep trying everything. They do not want to get caught up in every shiny object that appears in the online business space. They need help filtering the noise.

That is one of the main jobs of Ignite Income.

We are not here to promote everything.

We are here to talk about the things we believe are worth looking at.

And if we do not believe in something, we are not going to dress it up just to fill space.

That is an important line for us.

ClickBank Profit Club: Why It Has Caught Our Attention

One of the products we have been looking at closely is ClickBank Profit Club, and it has definitely been building traction.

What we like about it is that it speaks to a problem many people in affiliate marketing do not fully understand when they first start.

A lot of new affiliates think the business is simply this:

Find a product.
Get a link.
Post the link.
Hope someone buys.
Get a commission.

And yes, technically, that can work.

But it is also a very fragile way to build.

Because if all you are doing is sending traffic directly to someone else’s offer, you are usually helping them build their customer list, their audience, their data, and their long-term business asset.

You might get paid once.

But they keep the customer relationship.

That is the bit a lot of people miss.

ClickBank Profit Club appears to focus on something far more important: building your own asset. Capturing your own leads. Understanding the funnel. Creating a system where you are not just chasing one-off commissions, but building something that can potentially keep working for you over time.

That matters.

Because in online business, ownership matters.

Owning your list matters.
Owning your audience matters.
Owning the relationship matters.
Owning your follow-up matters.
Owning a system matters.

That is why we think the teaching inside ClickBank Profit Club is useful. It helps shift people away from the short-term “link posting” mindset and towards a more serious business-building mindset.

And that fits very well with the Ignite Income philosophy.

We are not interested in presenting affiliate marketing as a magic button. It is not. But when done properly, with trust, structure, patience, and a focus on building your own list, it can become a genuine part of an online income strategy.

That is why we will be giving further insights into ClickBank Profit Club as we continue to explore it.

Really Successful: Something New on Our Radar

Another thing we have started looking at this week is something from our friends at Really Successful.

Now, this one is still early days for us, so we are not going to overstate it or pretend we have a full verdict before we have done the work.

That would go against the whole point of what Ignite Income is meant to be.

But it is definitely on our radar.

And because it comes from people we already know and respect, we are interested to take a proper look.

This is exactly the kind of thing we want to bring to readers in the right way. Not as a rushed recommendation. Not as a hype-filled announcement. But as a proper look at what it is, who it might help, what the opportunity is, and whether it deserves attention.

That is the approach we will always try to take.

There is nothing wrong with being excited about a new product, course, or opportunity. Excitement is part of business. It is part of marketing. It is part of trying new things.

But excitement needs to be balanced with judgement.

That is where we want to sit.

Interested, curious, open-minded, but not gullible.

We will keep an eye on this one and share more when we have something useful to say.

What This First Week Has Really Taught Us

The biggest lesson from this first week is probably this:

You do not build confidence by waiting.

You build confidence by starting.

That is true for newsletters, affiliate marketing, course creation, content, AI tools, social media, podcasting, and almost every part of online business.

It is very easy to stay in planning mode. Planning feels safe. Research feels productive. Tweaking feels like progress. Waiting for perfect feels sensible.

But eventually, you have to put something out.

You have to let the market respond.
You have to let readers react.
You have to see what people click.
You have to see what people ignore.
You have to learn from the real world, not just from your own assumptions.

That is what launching Ignite Income has done for us.

It has moved the idea from private to public.

And once something is public, it can start growing.

That does not mean everything will be perfect from day one. It will not. There will be things we refine. There will be things we test. There will be angles that work better than others. There will be editions that get more engagement. There will be reader questions that send us in new directions.

Good.

That is the point.

A newsletter should not be frozen in place. It should evolve.

Where Ignite Income Fits Inside Volcano Publishing

This week has also helped us see more clearly where Ignite Income fits inside the wider Volcano Publishing world.

Volcano Publishing is the main home. It is the brand that brings everything together.

Roadtrippin’ gives people a look at the life side — the travel, the family moments, the adventures, the reflections, the real-world stories, and the reason behind wanting more flexibility in the first place.

The Digital Eruption podcast gives us a space to have conversations with entrepreneurs, marketers, creators, course builders, and people who have walked the road and have something valuable to share.

Volcano Learn is where courses and learning products sit.

And Ignite Income now gives us a focused newsletter dedicated to online income ideas, tools, course insights, affiliate marketing lessons, AI opportunities, newsletter building, and practical digital business thinking.

It gives us a place to bring the commercial, educational, and practical parts together in a way that is useful and easy to follow.

That matters because people do not always need more information.

They need context.

They need someone to connect the dots.

That is what Ignite Income can do.

It can take something like AI, affiliate marketing, a new course, a useful tool, or a business-building idea, and explain why it matters, how it fits, and whether it is worth a closer look.

Why Trust Will Always Come First

If there is one principle we want to keep at the heart of Ignite Income, it is trust.

Without trust, none of this works.

Readers are clever. They can sense when something is just a pitch. They can feel when every article is really just a disguised sales page. They know when people are recommending something because they genuinely believe in it, and when they are simply chasing a commission.

We never want Ignite Income to fall into that trap.

Of course, we will talk about products, tools, courses, and opportunities. That is part of what we do. But we want to do it in a way that feels fair, useful, and transparent.

If something looks good, we will say why.

If something has limitations, we should be willing to say that too.

If something is better suited to beginners than advanced users, we should make that clear.

If something requires effort, patience, or a certain type of person to get results, we should not hide that.

That is how you build long-term credibility.

And long-term credibility is far more valuable than a quick click.

The Road Ahead

So, after week one, where are we?

We are encouraged. We are energised. We are realistic. And we are ready to keep going.

Ignite Income has started.

Not perfectly. Not with every answer already mapped out. Not with some grand claim that we know exactly what it will look like in a year.

But with a strong first step and a clear intention.

To help people understand the online business world.
To test and review useful tools and courses.
To share honest insights.
To encourage people to build assets they own.
To make AI, affiliate marketing, newsletters, and digital income feel more understandable.
To create something that readers can trust.

That is enough for week one.

The next edition drops on Tuesday 19th May, and we are already working on making it useful, practical, and worth opening.

So, to everyone who has read the first edition, subscribed, commented, shared it, or simply had a look — thank you.

This is only the start.

We are not here to add to the noise.

We are here to help cut through it.

Grab a brew, come with us, and keep an eye on Ignite Income.

There is plenty more to come.

Read the first edition of Ignite Income here:
https://volcanopublishing.substack.com/p/the-100k-ai-wake-up-call-why-normal

Thanks for reading! The phrase “AI income” has already been dragged through the internet marketing mud a bit.

You have probably seen the videos. Somebody with perfect teeth, purple lighting and the energy of a man who has had eight espressos by 9am tells you that AI can make you £10,000 a day while you sleep. There is usually a laptop involved, possibly a rented sports car, and definitely a promise that sounds suspiciously like it was created in a laboratory specifically to empty your wallet.

That is not what this newsletter is about.

This is not going to be another “press one button and become rich” fantasy. AI does not work like that. If it did, we would all be sitting on a beach somewhere while a robot handled the invoices, walked the dog and finally sorted the mystery drawer in the kitchen.

The truth is more realistic, but also much more useful.

AI is not a magic money machine. It is a tool. A very powerful tool, yes. A slightly strange tool at times, definitely. A tool that occasionally writes like an estate agent describing a garden shed as “a lifestyle-enhancing outdoor sanctuary”, absolutely. But still, it is a tool.

And tools only become valuable when you know what job you want them to do.

That is where most people are going wrong.

They open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or whatever AI tool they are trying, ask it a couple of random questions, feel impressed for five minutes, then close it and carry on as normal. They know AI is important, but they do not know how to make it useful. They feel like they should be doing something with it, but they are not sure what that something is.

I understand that completely.

But here is what I also know: AI becomes genuinely powerful when you stop treating it like a party trick and start treating it like a business assistant.

That one shift changes everything.

I have made over £100k using AI-supported systems, content, tools, workflows and online business ideas. Not because I discovered a secret prompt. Not because I am some tech genius sitting in a bunker full of blinking servers. And not because AI did all the work while I sat back eating biscuits and admiring my own brilliance.

It worked because I used AI to help me create useful things faster.

That is the key.

AI helped me think faster, write faster, research faster, package ideas faster, create content faster, test offers faster, and turn messy ideas into something people could actually use.

That is what Ignite Income is here to help you do.

This is AI income for normal people. People with jobs, families, businesses, bills, dogs, inboxes, school runs, tired evenings and approximately 47 tabs open in their head at any given moment.

Not hype. Not jargon. Not guru nonsense.

Just practical ways to use AI to save time, create better content, build useful assets and explore realistic income opportunities.

Grab a brew. Let’s start properly.

The Big Idea: AI Is Not the Business — It Supports the Business

The biggest mistake people make with AI is thinking the tool itself is the income stream.

It isn’t.

A hammer does not build a house by itself. A camera does not create a photography business by itself. Canva does not magically create a design agency. And ChatGPT does not build a profitable business while you watch telly.

AI is not the business.

AI supports the business.

The income comes from what you create with it. That might be a newsletter, a useful guide, a digital product, a course review, a client service, an email campaign, a lead magnet, a content system, a workshop, a paid template, or an affiliate resource.

AI helps you get there quicker.

Think about how many people have good ideas sitting in notebooks, phone notes or half-written documents. They want to start something. They want to write. They want to sell. They want to build a side income. They want to create a newsletter or product or service. But the blank page stops them.

That blank page is brutal. It just sits there, looking smug.

AI changes that because it gives you a starting point. It can help you shape the idea, organise the mess, draft the first version, create options, simplify your thinking and turn a vague thought into something you can actually work with.

That is not magic.

It is momentum.

And momentum is massively underrated.

The Normal Person Advantage

You might think the people who will win with AI are the tech experts. Some will, of course. But there is another group who have a huge opportunity: practical people who understand real-life problems.

That could be a small business owner who knows customers struggle to understand their services. It could be a coach who wants to create better client resources. It could be a freelancer who wants to deliver faster. It could be a parent who has learned clever ways to budget, organise, travel, cook, teach, train or run a busy home. It could be someone with years of experience in a job who knows what beginners always get wrong.

That experience matters.

AI can help you package it.

A fire instructor could use AI to create training notes, checklists, learning guides, scenario plans or educational content. A fitness coach could create beginner programmes, meal plans and client follow-ups. A digital marketer could create campaigns, reviews, comparison guides and lead magnets. A travel blogger could turn road trip notes into guides, itineraries and content series.

The person still brings the value.

AI simply helps shape it.

This is why normal people should not be intimidated by AI. You do not need to understand every technical detail. You need to understand what problem you can help solve.

AI brings speed.

You bring sense.

That combination is where the opportunity lives.

Where AI Income Can Actually Start

For most people, the first realistic AI income opportunities are fairly simple. They are not hidden in some secret underground strategy that only appears after a three-hour webinar.

They usually begin in one of five places.

The first is content creation. AI can help you create newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, email sequences, podcast notes, video scripts, guides and lead magnets. If you already know a topic, AI helps you package that knowledge. If you are just starting, it helps you explore ideas and create structure.

The second is freelance services. Businesses need content, emails, customer replies, product descriptions, social posts, simple marketing materials and admin support. AI can help you deliver these things faster, which means you can either serve more clients or spend less time doing the boring bits.

The third is digital products. This could be checklists, mini guides, prompt packs, templates, workbooks, swipe files, resource lists or simple training. You do not need to create a giant course straight away. In fact, you probably shouldn’t. A small useful product is often a much better first move.

The fourth is affiliate marketing. If you test tools, review courses, compare platforms or explain which resources are useful, affiliate income becomes possible. But the key is trust. You cannot just throw links around like confetti and hope for the best. You need to explain what is good, what is not, who it is for, and whether you would genuinely recommend it.

The fifth is time saving. This one is often overlooked, but it matters. If AI saves you five hours a week in your existing work or business, that time has value. You can use it to create, sell, serve, learn, rest or spend time with family. Saving time is often the first form of profit.

The important point is this: AI does not need to replace what you do. It can improve how you do it.

The Income Angle

If I were starting from scratch today, I would not try to build a huge AI empire in week one. I would start by creating one useful thing for one clear audience.

For example, if your audience is small business owners, you might create a simple guide called:

10 AI Prompts to Help You Write Better Customer Emails

That guide could become a free lead magnet. It could grow your email list. Inside it, you could recommend the AI tool you use. Later, you could create a paid version with 50 prompts, examples and templates.

That is how income starts.

Not with a giant idea. Not with a perfect plan. Not with 12 software subscriptions.

With one useful thing.

AI helps you create that useful thing faster.

This Week’s Action

Open your AI tool of choice and type this:

I want to create a simple online income idea using my existing skills, interests and experience. Ask me 10 questions to help find the best idea for me.

Answer the questions honestly. Do not try to sound impressive. The useful stuff is often hiding in your normal life: your job, hobbies, frustrations, skills, stories, shortcuts and things people already ask you about.

Then ask:

Based on my answers, suggest 5 simple AI-supported income ideas I could realistically start with, and tell me which one is the best first move.

That is your first step.

No logo. No fancy funnel. No buying seventeen tools.

Just clarity.

Final Thought

AI is not just for tech people. It is not just for coders, founders, teenagers on YouTube or people who say “optimise” too much.

It is for anyone willing to learn, experiment and take practical action.

The people who win with AI will not just be the ones who understand the technology. They will be the ones who understand people, problems and usefulness.

That is where the opportunity is.

Welcome to Ignite Income.

Let’s build something real.

One useful idea at a time.

Enjoyed this first issue?
